The treatment itself is carried out in several stages. The first one is a surgical procedure whereby new sockets are created in your jawbone to accommodate the dental implants. People usually undergo this procedure with a local anaesthetic, and nervous patients are also offered sedation. Implants are tiny titanium posts, which the dentist inserts into the newly-created sockets. Once these are in place, a cap is placed over their open end to protect it, and you enter the second stage of the process.
